Our Team
Dr. Ryan Cook
Dr. Cook was the type of child who had to regularly fess up that he had brought home another dog or cat. Dr. Cook was so fascinated with cats that he, at one point, considered being a biologist to study Big Cats in Africa. He has a Bachelor’s of Science in Veterinary Medicine with a minor in Ballroom Dance from Brigham Young University. He earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in Ames, IA. He speaks Spanish fluently and is an excellent baker. Dr. Cook is a card-carrying member of the National Sarcasm Society (like we need your support) and an expert in Dad-jokes. He is a family man with four children and an adorable wife who also happens to write his bios.
Dr. Cody Crenwelge
Dr. Crenwelge is from a big family in Fredricksburg, Texas. He studied Zoology at Texas A&M and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University. Dr. Crenwelge (pronounced Cren-well-gee, with a hard /g/ as in the word gift) loves spending time with and caring for Judith, Cletus, and Dracarys and the rest of his house plants, though he still mourns the loss of Bruce the Spruce. A shy singer, he happily serenades his neighbors from the shower. Dr Crenwelge loves to hike challenging trails and when not at work he can be found in remote parts of the Cascades or Olympic Mountains hiking, and on two occasions, officiating in a wedding ceremony.
Dr. Amy Gerrish
Dr. Amy Gerrish grew up in Albuquerque, NM and studied at Colorado State University. Dr. Gerrish (pronounced Gair-ish) has a bachelor’s degree in Biology, with an Anatomy minor, and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She and her husband, Ian, moved to Washington right after vet school and have been here ever since. They have three kids, who are growing up too quickly, two dogs, two cats and two horses. Medicine is Dr. Gerrish’s passion, especially endocrinology and ophthalmology. She also loves camping and gardening. At APC, we know it’s almost summer because Dr. Gerrish has vegetable starts available. She is in love with Ian, her children, Oreos and Cheetos, in that order.
Dr. Wendy Karle
Originally from Ohio, Dr. Wendy Karle graduated from Ohio State University with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Dr Karle (pronounced Car-lee) worked for 13 years in Northern California, Oregon and Seattle until she came home to Affordable Pet Care. Christl Cook

Christl, Dr. Cook’s other half, is our accountant, creative director, maintenance woman, cheerleader, editor, paper pusher, and budget setter. She loves literature, woodworking, remodeling, Ryan, her children, and her set of Dewalt power tools. She has a favorite drill, and tree, but not a favorite child. Christl also possesses an overactive imagination and a taser. Her two favorite places in her house are her garage, where the tools live, and her library upstairs.

Life away from the clinic is never dull with her dogs, Sol, Charlie and Hank and her husband, Alfredo. Emily has a green thumb and is the caretaker of over 67 house plants. She also enjoys painting, and days at the race track with Alfredo.

Kaylee
Veterinary Assistant
Luke
Dental Technician
Luke has an impressive collection of name tags. He has had every job from pizza delivery to roofing. All that changed when he started working here. He learned how to draw blood, take x-rays, hold pets, and clean their teeth. If you hear a loud laugh, it’s probably Luke and there are usually a couple others laughing along with him – though never as loud.
Maya
Veterinary Assistant
Maya is a third year student at WWU. Maya is very passionate about animal rights and has taken a stand since middle school to stop eating meat. She is quiet and clever, and about 5’4″ with brown eyes — the rest changes, sometimes without notice (hair color).
Reggie
Veterinary Assistant
Reggie, in addition to an obvious love for animals, has a love for music. He tries to go to a concert every month, everything from pop to metal. He has the distinction of having a completely monochromatic wardrobe – all his regular clothes are black. Reggie has a goal of becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician. He is also an ordained minister.

Taylor is the one most likely to love-up your pet when they come through our door. She has 6 dogs, 2 cats and 50+ chickens (the chickens have become hard to count). Hocus and Pocus
Supervisors
No family is complete without pets, so our Affordable Pet Care family needed some furry companions too. These two brothers keep each other and us company. As you can see, they also try to “help” us with our work. Hocus is first to the food bowl and likes to tease your pets when they are in the kennels. Pocus enjoys sunspots and teasing his brother. We are so grateful for their friendly presence each day.
